 The course will include 2 parts– knowledge development & water Skill development. During the first part participants learn basic dive safety information and overview of skills to be used during their water experience. In order to maximize camp time students will be asked to have read their PADI manual and completed the knowledge reviews at the end of each chapter prior to arriving to camp. The classroom sessions will include discussion, review of the chapter knowledge reviews, viewing  video, and taking a short quiz over the information covered. The water skills development session introduces essential dive skills, such as mask clearing, and alternate air source use. SCUBA skills are taught and practiced in shallow water prior to moving into deeper water where students will demonstrate their mastery of those skills. At successful completion of the course students will be awarded a PADI Open water diver Patch & and certification card.

Students will be required to have a

  • mask
  • snorkel
  • fins
  • booties.

Dive equipment can be fitted and purchased at a local dive center. Scouts will not ne allowed to bring personal air tanks. All air tanks will provided by an authorized SCUBA outfitter through Camp Roosevelt.

Cancellation Policy: Refunds & Cancelation Policy Refunds of camp fees will be considered only if written communication or email is submitted to the Camp Director at Katahdin Area Council office two weeks prior to the scheduled arrival date of camp. The $50 Campsite Reservation deposit is not refundable. Plus a $75 administrative fee will be added for every request. Refunds will be issued for the unused portion (exclusive of deposits & admin Fees) for a Scout who leaves camp for a verifiable reason (medical, conflict of schedule). Homesickness is not considered a refundable medical reason. Camp fees are transferable to another Scout in your unit. This does apply to scouts who are enrolled in a specialty camp or provisional camping program. All refund requests will be considered after September 1, 2013. No refunds can be granted for any reason until after August 31, 2013
